The Open Exhibition Best in Show

The first Open Exhibition at Berwick Watchtower closed on Friday after over seven hundred visitors had spent many hours viewing over 217 works by different artists.
We are pleased to announce that the painting The River Till from the Weetwood Bank by Jonathan Lloyd won the Best in Show competition. His painting will be entered next April to the selection process for the 2013 Summer Show at the Royal Academy of Arts in London.

The effect of such a varied group of works, close hung and filling every space in the gallery, was stunning; many people came back several times to make a final decision on their favourite work. We thank the people involved in the achievement of this exhibition and hope to see them all again next year.

We now look forward to exhibitions of work by Yvonne Parr and Brita Granstrom whose dynamic and elegant works are visible in the images below. Come and see more of them from Saturday 10 November to Friday 7 December between 12 noon and 4.00 p.m. every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The singing colours and entertaining images of these two artists will brighten the start of winter for us all.

Could you please post a photo of the winning artwork. I wondered if it was the one pictured on its own, but can’t see it clearly enough and don’t actually remember seeing that on the wall.
